Cynthia Doggett
Cynthia Krenzel Doggett has a dynamic personality in performance that excites audiences, and a passion for teaching that inspires her students.
Passing her knowledge and experience as a performer to her students is Cynthia’s primary goal, and her success in crafting the tone and musicianship of her students has been widely recognized.
Dr. Doggett's recent international appearances include performances and master classes in Romania and London, and she has a master class and performance in Bali, Indonesia scheduled for summer 2009. Cynthia regularly appears throughout the midwest as a soloist, recitalist, and clinician. Her most recent performance as a soloist occurred in spring of 2008 with the Central Iowa Symphony.
Cynthia is actively commissioning works for clarinet and saxophone for the duet KrenzelDoggett, a project she and her husband, Thomas, founded in order to increase the repertoire for clarinet and saxophone. Their list of commissioned works includes The Ox and the Lark by Nikola Resanovic, composer of alt.music.ballistix, for clarinet and tape.
In order to enhance the level of clarinet performance and education in Iowa, Cynthia coordinated Iowa Clarinet Day. The annual event brings performances and master classes by internationally renowned clarinetists to the state of Iowa, and facilitates collaboration between Midwestern clarinet professors. Guest artists for Iowa Clarinet Day in 2007 and 2008 were Håkan Rosengren and Jonathan Cohler.
Dr. Doggett earned her D.M.A. from University of Wisconsin-Madison, her M.M. from Kent State University, and her B.M. from University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Her primary teachers were Linda Bartley, Dennis Nygren, Andrea Splittberger-Rosen, and internationally acclaimed soloist Håkan Rosengren.
Cynthia Doggett is a Yuan Gao performing artist.
